#17: The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien

Tolkien, you’re great, but I really want these LOTR weeks to end so I can move on to a new book (mostly just because I need a new story where I don’t already know the ending). One more to go.

I am coming to the realization that I’m not crazy about the fantasy genre. I think this is because it forces the writer to spend a majority of time describing the world in which the story is set and as I have said before, lengthy descriptions are not my favorite. I much prefer dialogue and descriptions about characters than that of strange creatures or new lands. While I am sure some people can become so enveloped in the world that the author has created, I find myself slipping away from the novel, waiting for more of the hard plot to set in. It certainly doesn’t help that I have seen the movies and already know a lot that the book has to offer. Nevertheless, I will power through The Return of the King at which point I may write a longer blog post about the LOTR in general.

Next up, The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien…
